There are many reasons to choose WordPress as your next platform for developing an online presence but I always emphasize one reason above all the rest.
Community makes the decision to choose WordPress easy. I know how important community is when developing a property online because I have experienced it but maybe your just starting out, or are just trying to find the best CMS for your business website. Either way, I’m going to give you three reasons to use WordPress because of the community around it.
What makes this one aspect of WordPress so important that it should convince you to use it?
Current Users
With names like Pepsi, CNN, Wall Street Journal, and Smashing Magazine you are in good company when you choose to power your blog or website through WordPress. You can view some of the more noteable users on the WordPress.org showcase.
Codex
The WordPress Codex is the knowledge base for all things WordPress. I don’t like manuals until I something breaks or I want something to work better. The Codex is a dynamic manual that has tons of information being submitted, edited, and updated by the community.
Resources
If you have a plan to reach a specific goal with your online presence then WordPress has the resources to get you there. Every week there are updates, upgrades, and new features added to the WordPress toolbox.
There are over 1,300 different free themes in the WordPress Theme database you can choose from and many, many more premium themes.
A plugin is a small (or large) application that you can add to your site in order to do a specific task. If you can think of a task that you want your website to be able to accomplish there is probably a safe and effective plugin for it. At the time I am writing this article there are over 12,800 plugins in the WordPress plugin directory that you can choose from.
Each of these three advantages of WordPress is driven by the community of passionate developers. The greatest thing about the community is that when you begin using WordPress you become part of the growing community. There is no initiation process, monthly fees, annual dues, or special group you have to become apart of.
Everyone is important to the success of WordPress and that’s what makes it so incredible.
